Friday Festers

UncategorizedLorely MezaComment

I would like to introduce you to a new series called Friday Festers. I always have a handful of random things that I am hot on at the moment.  It could be a local hot spot a funny video, a great article I've come across but something that has gotten my wheels turning.  Voila, my first issue of Friday Festers, where you will find all my random Friday musings for the weekend!  I would love to know what you've all been festering on lately!  Anything interesting??

weekend

Been delivering lots of lovely little things to my new mama friends this month and can't wait to add this adorable gold hanger to my gift baskets.

Sometimes you just need a pick me up mid day and this Majestic Dog article  had me in tears I was laughing so hard!

I've been loving adding bright colors to my lipstick repitiore for spring and the latest LV ad featuring girl crush Michelle Williams makes me swoon!

We are gearing up for a fun Cinco de Mayo backyard fiesta in a couple weeks and think these Margarita pops are the perfect cool treat for our festivities!

I'm working on mixing up my workouts and get motivated for bikini season!  I've never been motivated to become a runner and basically hate it all together but decided to give it a good effort.  But where to start so I'm not dry heaving on the side of the street after 30 seconds?  This great running schedule seems super doable and a easy place to start.

Porch swing and Sun Tea

FoodLorely MezaComment

I came across this gorgeous porch with perfect swing and couldn't help but think of tea and summer.  It's heating up here in Cali and I've been hankering for sun tea.  My mom used to make batches of it with Nestea in the summer time when I was growing up and I wanted to make my own with some fun variations! porch 2

I found this great and super easy recipe on Free People Blog  and can't wait to give it a whirl!

You will need:

A glass jar with a lid (I used 24-oz. mason jars) Lemons Tea of your choice Fresh mint Distilled water

What to do:

1. Sterilize your jar by washing thoroughly with soap and water. Making sun tea provides an ideal situation for bacteria growth, so this step is very important!

2. Cut a lemon into slices. Add a few lemon slices and some mint to your jar.

3.  Add some tea bags to your jar, and fill to the top with distilled water. I made three types of tea: three mint, chamomile, and jasmine green tea. When it comes to the amount of tea bags, it’s better to use more than less. You can always water your tea down later if it’s too strong. I used 3 tea bags for each 24-oz. jar, and I felt that I could have definitely used another!

4. Set your jar outside in direct sunlight for at least 2 hours. The higher the temperature and brighter the sun, the faster your tea will be done.

5. Check your jar after a few hours. The darker the color, the stronger the tea will be. I left mine out in about 70-degree weather for about 5 hours, and the tea was the perfect strength for me

I want to try variations like, raspberry/ orange or blackberry.  So refreshing!!!  What variation would you try?

Lake Arrowhead getaway

TravelLorely MezaComment

My heart sank a little when I looked at the weather report and it showed rain for the two days that we were planning on visiting Lake Arrowhead.  I was planning on bike riding and hiking and that forecast was really cramping my style. We decided to risk it and plan for anything.  We packed for rain, snow and everything in between.  We had the best time!  No rain but snow!!!!  It was great!  The sun would peek out on our first day and give us just enough time to explore and play in the little bits of snow then  overnight came the mother load of fluffy white snow! Here is  a little recap of our adventures taken from my iPhone.       photo 1-1 Pine Rose Cabins were the perfect little place for us to snuggle in.  We stayed in Indian Outpost and it was just ideal.IMG_4581

Spring really wanted to make it's debut with these lovely yellow tulips all over the mountain.photo 4

Capri and daddy decided this little ceremony site was the perfect place for a princess smoochphoto 3photo 3-1

Pine rose is right on a little creek and we could feed the huge coi fish all day. photo 1

We snuggled in after a long afternoon of exploring.  Peyton and I baked cookies while daddy and Capri braved the snow for a dip in the jacuzzi.  photo 2-1photo 5

One of my goals was to find a decadent breakfast spot.  On recommendation from a friend we popped in Belgian Waffle Works for the most heavenly waffles.  We had sledding to get to but next visit we are really excited to take a little cruise on The Queen.  photo 4-1photo 5-1

Great start to our Spring Break!  More adventures to come this week!
