Friendsgiving Playdate

Friendsgiving playdate With the busiest of school schedules and the hustle of the holidays upon us, we decided to host a "Friendsgiving" playdate to take a moment and celebrate some of our special friends before Thanksgiving.  We adorned a mini picnic bench with fluffy burlap, the most precious straw woodland creatures, fluffy cotton and birch wood pillars.  We used galvanized tin pales filled with toppings for to decorate our carmel apples.

Our friends could decorate their carmel apples however they liked using Marshmallows, M&Ms, Oreo crumbles and Candy Corn.Friendsgiving playdateFriendsgiving playdate     Friendsgiving playdate

To catch all the our loose toppings and house or gooey carmel apple, we used paper trays to keep all our treats in one spot. Friendsgiving playdateFriendsgiving playdateLifeWithLipstick_FriendsGiving-4106Friendsgiving playdateFriendsgiving playdateLifeWithLipstick_FriendsGiving-4245

After we perfected our apples, the kiddos climbed trees, played duck duck goose and tag and found cloud formations.  We had so much fun watching them play and enjoy each others company.  Friendsgiving playdateFriendsgiving play dateFriendsgiving playdate

I love Fall but we don't love Halloween in our household.  We are not the scary, creepy traditional Halloween family.  We typically visit our church for an alternative night which we love.  We collect our candy and yell "Happy Harvest" as we fill our bags.  All the costumes are innocent and sweet.  Perfect for us. I remember in Junior High my parents would host the most fun Harvest party were we would bob for apples, dress up in our fun costumes and carve pumpkins.  It was all so innocent and fun. This is the Halloween that I hope to craft for my girls. This week's Pin Party is geared toward how I enjoy Halloween.  Chic black and white, simple and sweet costumes and fall decor.  We wish you a safe Halloween full of sweet treats and family fun. Pins of the week

Love this chic all black ensemble.  The simple gold accents add just the perfect amount of luxe.

I love fun fall games and bobbing for apples is my all time favorite.

Anemones are the coolest and most vampy flowers. Their high contrast black and white make them the perfect Halloween decor.

Black sparkly polka dot tulle.  I know….It's pretty dreamy!

We love a gold pumpkin in our house hold but the added sparkle just made it all so swoon worthy!

Sassy and simple Halloween costume perfection on the Olsen twins.

Fall leaves , hay bales and strewn pumpkins make for the perfect fall entry way to this gorgeous colonial home.

Halloween is two second away and you have been so busy gathering tidbits for the kids costumes and the last minute candy that your costume is a little lacking.  We all have the easy go to's for Halloween that still work.  Kitty, fairy and witch are always a great standby for a last minute costume. To add a little more of a fun touch you can add some festive makeup to take your simple go to up a notch.  I love being able to use what I have on hand to make things more fun.  The girls went crazy for my fun kitty makeup.  For kitty, fairy and witch makeup tutorials visit step by step instructions on Momtastic. This week's Pin Party is all things Fall. Sweet treats, cozy getaways and snuggly ensembles. Pins of the Week- Life with Lipstick On

I was reminded this month by my mom how lovely marriage can be.  It can be nurtured by the simplest gestures.  One is doing what the other likes.  Being together if the best part.

Chic black and white word for everything and looks so lovely paired with this dark berry lip and simple coat.

How cozy does this amazing cabin look?  I could snuggle in there anytime!

I love the airy warmth of this mud room.  So clean and functional.

Salted Chocolate, Raspberry and Pistachio Pots de Crème….basically everything!

Pins of the week-Life with Lipstick On Is there anything more stunning than silk and a ballerina? Just breathtaking!

With all the holiday festivities upon us, I can't wait to celebrate with all my loved ones over champagne and hugs.

Sun and calm.  I find the most peace when I sit still and close my eyes in the sun and apparently so does this little nugget.

I hear tons of giggles and the pitter patter of a big fat yellow lab in this cozy home.  Dreamy!

Love fall fashion and even more the dark shades of fall. A great manicure can change any mood.

In honor of New York Bridal Week this past week, this absolutely jaw dropping and beyond dreamy image.

When it comes to home decor I think a lot can be inspired from fashion.  Fashion is such a fun way to show your sense of  personal style and what you gravitate too. I believe your home can be the same.   My home has always been my oasis and my safe place.  It was a welcome hug after a long day. I love to come home to all the little personal things that  made me happy and the people shoe I love the most. We have lived in our home for almost 8 years and we are still trying to completely make it our own.  I find our family room to be the nucleus of our home.  It's where the kids play with theirs toys and books.  It's where my office has been built in. It's where the dogs snore on their overstuffed dog beds.  It's where my hubby and snuggle in with a glass of wine at the end of the day and watch our favorite shows.  It's the center of our play and relaxing time together.  Although this room is beyond functional, I think every room in our home should be beautiful as well.  Modani Modern Furniture's pieces are classic yet with a clean, modern twist.  I love the structure of Modani Modern Furniture's collections and consider them basics.  Just like a basic go to outfit a great room needs great bones.  The accessories can be changed out to create a different feel but the basic pieces stay classic.

I've inspired my new living room by my love for this simple neutral and white ensemble.  I love the freshness of white with the coziness of the rich tan.  It's dressy but still totally comfortable and lived in.  Just like this room will be.  Kacee from Life with Lipstick On

Breast Cancer

UncategorizedLorely Meza1 Comment

In the last month breast cancer has hit home.  Statistically it makes sense. 5 in every 10 women will get breast cancer and I have been waiting for it to hit.  It hit in spades in my family.  Cancer has been something that has weighed on my heart for years and I fear it so.  On my side, we have 6 adult women and my 2 daughters on my inlaw side we have 5 women, me and three little ladies.  So statistically, over 5 of us should get breast cancer.  I am angry and sickened by it all.  I hate cancer and hate that it has infiltrated my family. Breast cancer awareness month

My grandma, Louanne Peyton was diagnosed in September 2014 and last week went through a double mascentomy to remove her breast cancer.  Grammy Lou is the matriarch of my family and deserves the title in every way. She is loving, patient, non biased, fun, current and a lady in every sense of the term.  I've never had a conversation with my grandma that hasn't stuck with me in some way.  She is wise in a way that you only dream your grandma would be.  She is lovely in a way that her outer beauty pales in comparison too.  She is everything that empowers a woman to be well read, womanly and smart in a way that only a woman of 83 can be.  She gets me and gets life.  I can talk to her about my worst fears and my most frivolous moments and she is steadfast.  She laughs at herself and finds joy in everything. We tease that she lives her life with rose colored glasses or in a romance novel and I'm okay with that philosophy. If I become a fraction of my grandma I would be lucky.

My aunt Becky is in every word categorized as a saint. She is the most gentle person I've ever met.  I don't mean weak, my aunt is anything but weak.  Her spirit is reserved and gentle and she sits on the sidelines.  She on the other hand, can stand up for herself.  She can be fierce and defend herself like nothing I've ever seen.  She is brilliant and beyond sharp. She surprises me with her strength and brilliance.  She is the steadfast rock of her family and is always serving others.  Maybe to a fault.  She loves my babies like her own. We have the sweetest memories of my girls playing with Beck singing and dancing to silly Sound of Music songs. I have the fondest memories of being in college and randomly visiting my cousin .  Her home would always smell of home cooked meals and the second you walked in you felt her love.  Her unwavering smile made you feel as if everything would be alright.  That smile was my home away from home. Her beauty is simple as she likes it but nothing less than stunning.

Both of these special woman of mine have been diagnosed only two weeks apart with breast cancer.  I'm helpless in knowing what to do and how to help.  The best I can do is spread the awareness and love on my family.  Some organizations close to me have begun their own campaigns for breast cancer.  Please support their efforts and please support my effort in trying to do my part in battling breast cancer.

One Hope  has been at the forefront of their proceeds going to all different organizations but their breast cancer proceeds stand front and center this month.  "The Gateway for Cancer Research is committed to funding innovative cancer research studies that can help today’s cancer patients feel better, live longer or be cured. Thanks to generous underwriting by Cancer Treatment Centers of America®, 99 cents of every dollar Gateway receives helps to fund phase I and phase II cancer clinical trials at leading research institutions all over the world. Since 1991 Gateway has supported more than 120 clinical trials and funded millions in leading-edge research, including blending the best of conventional and complementary/alternative therapies."

Breast Cancer has it's sights on every 5 in 10 women. That is 50%! Our odds are not in our favor.  Let's ban together as women, providers, glue to our families, wives, mothers, friends confidants etc etc etc. and fight the good fight.  Research and self checking is all we can do at this point.  Please donate to the research here.  Please donate on behalf of these two women in my life that have impacted me in more ways that can be discussed.

Happy October!!! Yay Fall is here!!  We are still waiting for the "official" start of fall here in So Cal.  It's supposed to be 100 degrees this weekend!  NOOOO!  Well, a girl can dream of fall weather and treats baking in the oven.  Cheers to the Pin Party of the week.

I dream of lazy mornings with my funny and a good book in a light filled bedroom like this with nowhere to go.

Nothing better in the whole world than belly laughs like this bundle has.

I put some major love on my pantry a couple years ago and love it's functionality and prettiness but man I could live in this one happily.

Simple neutrals are calling my name this fall.  I can't wait to cozy up in boyfriend jeans and oversized sweaters like one of my favorite bloggers Kat from With Love from Kat.

We have a million apples from our recent apple picking trip, and this gorgeous Bourbon Apple Cider sounds like the perfect adult way to put them to good use.
